Holy Roman Empire

Frederick Barbarossa

Dawn of Man

All hail the Holy Roman Emperor, Frederick I, the legendary Barbarossa! This Empire of yours is a patchwork of 1600 loosely controlled states, each one of them highly autonomous and trying to gain power at the expense of another; being the Emperor was merely a symbol of status, possessing little power. Even then you aspired to rule as the great emperors of old, with rulers before you having failed to maintain the power of a Roman Emperor, and you managed to overcome the adversity of jealous dukes and wicked popes to rule over your vassals as a true emperor.

Barbarossa, the Empire needs a ruler with skill and determination to lift this divided realm into greatness! Will you make this Holy Roman Empire be worth of its name? Can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time?

Introduction: I'm afraid I don't recognize who you are. My pardons though, I'm sure you rule a great country. I am Barbarossa, Holy Roman Emperor.

Introduction: What a fine occasion that we happen to meet, noble stranger, although I have little time for small talk - Those darn Italians aren't ruling themselves! Tell me why have you come.

Defeat: Very well then, you have bested me and my Empire... I think need a whole barrel of beer.

Defeat: I don't think you realize how much I sacrificed for this Empire. My only regret is to not be alive to see when your puny kingdom falls apart.
